Ogden Park

Ogden Park Wilmington NC features three picnic shelters, a playground, tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, walking trails, and a state-of-the-art skate park. The facility also has a Miracle Field, a special rubberized playing surface that allows people with mobility issues to play sports. You’ll be glad you read this!

Dogs are welcome in the off-leash dog area, but owners must clean up their dogs’ poop. Also, the sand can get hot and burn paw pads.

1. Playground

Located northeast of town this park offers three reservable picnic shelters, a playground, an off-leash dog area, a pond, sports fields, and a state-of-the-art 10,000 square-foot concrete skatepark. It also has a one-mile paved walking trail and exercise station.

The facility also houses a Miracle Field- a rubberized turf playing surface that allows individuals with disabilities to play baseball, soccer, softball, and football. It is utilized by special education classes, nursing home residents, and veteran program participants.

The city does an amazing job of keeping this area well-maintained. Trash cans are always emptied and fenced-in areas are swept clean. The only downside is goose poop that is everywhere! Other than that this is a great place for kids to run around and adults to relax.

2. Tennis Courts

The Wilmington area offers plenty of outdoor space for jogging, tennis, hiking, and just relaxing. Just a short drive northeast of Downtown Wilmington you will find Ogden Park. This popular local favorite is home to 3 baseball fields, 9 tennis courts, a full basketball court, an outdoor gym, and a one-mile walking trail. They also have a 10,000-square-foot concrete skatepark, three reservable picnic shelters, and a playground.

Located within the park is Greenfield Lake Amphitheater which houses live music year-round and has been featured on TV shows such as One Tree Hill. This 250-acre park is also the home to a state-of-the-art kayak and boat rental shop. There are also several paved trails throughout the park and a large number of shaded sitting areas. 3. Soccer Fields

The soccer fields are well-maintained and have lots of parking. They’re lighted and open to the public 8 am-sunset. They host youth leagues and pick-up games all year round. They also host Cape Fear Ultimate leagues and tournaments throughout the summer.

The newest addition to the park is the Miracle Field, a special rubberized playing surface that enables individuals with mobility issues to participate in a variety of sports. It was funded by a combination of New Hanover County bond funds, donations from Kiwanis and Wilmington Believes in Miracles, and volunteer labor.

Located off Gordon Road, this is a great park for kids and adults. There are also a number of paved walking trails, a dog park, a pond, and a skate park. This park is one of the most unique parks around and definitely worth a visit!

4. Baseball Fields

Located directly north of Downtown Wilmington this park features a water reserve and is the perfect place to get out some energy. They host yoga in the mornings, afternoon concerts, and farmers’ markets on weekends. This 250-acre park has tons of running and walking trails, picnic areas, and public restrooms too. It’s even been used in the past for popular TV shows like One Tree Hill.

It’s also home to three baseball fields, a youth football stadium, 9 lighted tennis courts, and a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot concrete skate park. In addition to these athletic facilities, the park features a paved walking trail around the pond and a dog park. All of these community green spaces connect the residents of Cape Harbor to all that is great about the outdoors.

5. Skate Park

A state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot concrete skate park designed for skateboards and BMX bikes. The park features a variety of street elements as well as a large skate bowl.

The park is also home to the Wilmington Miracle Field a rubberized turf playing surface that allows individuals with mobility issues to play baseball, soccer, and more. The facility serves children from special education classes, nursing homes, and veterans programs participants including Wounded Warriors.

To get to the park from Market Street take Lendire Rd (look for 24 Fit and Brookelynn Premium Cigars) then turn right on Ogden Park Drive. Parking is free. The park is a wonderful place to bring kids and family for a picnic or a day of outdoor fun. Next blog post.
